| ABOUT US... The year was 1985, and at Dan and Jane Riddle's house in Saline, Michigan, a new landscape contract company, called Timberscapes, began. Since contracting companies need room, and the house was in town, the business soon found room to grow at the current site at Wagner and Waters Roads, in Lodi Township.
Lodi Farms began in 1992, as a logical progression from Timberscapes Landscape Contracting Company. Jane and Dan Riddle began with a one- page "price list" of such rare and exotic plants as forsythias, junipers, and white pine trees; shredded bark, and topsoil. The few but loyal customers that came in, came back, and told their friends, and over the years we've slowly, but steadily, grown. A greenhouse was added in 1995, which made rainy days at the nursery far more comfortable for shoppers and staff alike! We had a successful Kids' Gardening Club (The Gardening Nuts) for several years, and also began to hayrides and pumpkins in October, and cut and potted Christmas trees in December. Over the years we participated in the Ann Arbor Flower Show, which included such fun things as re-creating Monet's garden and keeping track of a flock of baby ducks on a display pond. The Kid's Club had their own displays, including a Botanical Choir and an Octopus made from plants---and pantyhose! When Justin, our amazing landscape manager, arrived, (hurrah!) the landscape contracting division began to grow and thrive again. Justin and his crew have designed and built hundreds of walls, patios, walkways, gardens and full landscapes all over the Ann Arbor area---check the landscape page for pictures and descriptions. Since we have our own 56-acre tree farm just west of Jackson, the majority of our shade trees are Michigan-grown and Michigan hardy---which gives them the best chance for sustainability and great growth! Check out our Calendar Of Savings and be ready to hopscotch, hula-hoop, whistle a happy tune, bring in Mom, or even sing to get your discount for that day! Be sure to say hello to our cats too! Our goal is to make your visit to our nursery exactly what you want it to be---an enjoyable, fun, beautiful addition to your activities. So if you need just a few plants, a gift for a friend, a new patio, ten yards of cedar bark, ideas for a problem area of the yard, or just need to stop by and smell the lilacs, we're glad you stopped by---how can we help you today? |
